Futsal first started in the 1930’s in Uruguay but since then the popular sport has spread all around the world and is a continually growing sport especially in Australia (History of Futsal, 2015). To get a team to its optimal performance for futsal a correct training plan has to be implemented. The correct training plan depends on a few key factors. These key factors are annual plan, components of fitness and principles of training. These three factors govern what training should be conducted to allow the athletes to work on the correct muscle groups for the correct intensity of futsal and also allowing them to peak during important stages of their season allowing them to perform to their full potential (Bompa, 1987).
