The structure of each macrocycle depends on what stage of the annual plan its in. The intensity of training in each macrocyles undergoes a wave like pattern (Lawrence R woodman, 1983). Focusing on the competitive phase the intensity of training should slowing increase and drop off on the fourth week (or fourth day, depending on the length of the macrocycle) giviing the players time to recover for the game (Lawrence R woodman, 1983).
